Anyone have one? Is it REALY worth the $699 they have them priced at?

Or would a Melling M208 be just fine for $75

My $ will buy a Melling.

That is kinda what I was thinking. IIRC the Diesel-Site ones WERE like $300 when they 1st came out. You would think for $699 they would be gold plated and installed too!!

Amazing how 2 pieces of metal and an O-ring is $699 but their HPOP with all kinds of other parts is $689

The Melling and the stock Ford unit are two completely different critters. The Melling may have an inproved georotor design but the Ford georotor is considerably wider.

The Ford georotor is 1.300" wide and the Melling georotor is 0.932". At least the ones I have are. Some like the Melling and others had better results with the stock Ford unit.

The photos of the Dieselsite unit appears to have a very wide georotor housing. Haven't had one in hand to measure, myself.
Just my opinion, but if factory LPOP have lasted 150-200k regularly w/o problems there is absolutely NO way in hell Id pay for anything more then the equivalent factory pump again. There isnt a reason to.
I believe the Melling pump has an extra vane and displaces more volume. There is a thread on here comparing the Melling pump to the factory one.

If install the factory pump facing the wrong way, you'll wipe out the front cover. With the Melling piece, it doesn't matter.

Well, the Ford georotor (1.300" thick)is 39% wider than the Melling (0.932" thick). Whether or not that translates into more output for the Melling because of improved georotor design, who knows?

I know of one person (not me) running a twin terminator that had oil supply problems to the HPOP with the Melling, swapped back to the stock Ford and the problem disappeared. He convinced me to use the stock Ford.
Sub'd...
Ditto...

Wider but with an additional vane, not sure that is a volumetric improvement.

Am I reading correctly, the Ford replacement is north of $700?

I think you may be looking that up wrong. XC3Z6608AA is like 65-85 depending where you look

$114 if you deal with a local parts store and get it at cost! :)
Some vendors have them listed at $118..or less. Google.
