Did an oil change now rough cold start

Hey guys I just did my oil change on my 2005 f250 with delo 400le 15w40 and motorcraft filter from walmart and now the truck is starting rough and missing until she is completely warm. I added 15 qts could being overfilled make it do that? It may be overfilled but can't really tell with the crappy dip stick. Should I dump a qt or 2 out? Could it be a faulty filter? I checked the o ring and it's not pinched. Ran great before the oil change when I had motorcraft oil in it.

I had the exact same thing happen once, turned out to be a bad case of stiction. Get some archoil or rev-x and see what happens.
15qts is correct, so if that is what you used you are ok. To use the dipstick you need to short stick it...Put the dip stick back in until the black handle touches the metal tube but don't push it down. Just touch it to the tube then pull it out. If it is full it should be in the middle of the bulb or a little lower. If it is at the top or above then it is over filled. As said, 15qts is correct.

It is likely the oil. For some reason it doesn't like the delo, which is good oil. Try the rev-x or Hot Shot’s Secret Stiction Eliminator. It won't hurt anything and may help.

Beats me... but you can start here. :) http://www.hotshotsecret.com/

good luck.
Stock OEM oil cap? Or a real tall cap on the filter housing?

If you put a new Motorcraft filter into the tall cap, it won't fit right.

Just checking is all.

See added picture of both style caps. Stock on right.

I've had good results a couple years ago using Archoil for my '06. One treatment it cleared up (130K+ miles). I did try Hotshots when my #7 injector went out last Fall, but it was dead. When I replaced the injector, I was surprised how clean the head was at 160K miles. Prior to that repair I switched from Delo 400LE to T5.

Regarding the oil level, I've seen a few threads discussing how much the 6.0 really needs. My first F350 (purchased new in 2004) used 15 qts for a oil service. This 2006 only needs 14.25 qts. I have tried 15 qts. twice and each time, the oil level would register where the metal dipstick and plastic indicator met.

Lastly, concur with Drive on using the OEM oil filter cap. My 06 had a Wix cap, which is similar to the height of the photo above - too tall.
