Any good threads on how to do this? I pulled a set of non tint glass at pick n pull this weekend to replace the ugly factory mirror tint. I pulled the weather stripping and just about everything else to get the windows out. There has to be a trick to get it in and out.

Straight out of the service manual:

Door Window Glass, Rear

Removal

1. Remove the rear door trim panel.

2. Lower the rear door window glass and remove the inside and outside rear door glass weatherstrips.

3. Note: Only one screw is shown in illustration.

Remove one screw at the top and one at the bottom of the rear door glass front lower retainer.

4. Remove the rear door glass run front lower retainer by pulling up and twisting so that the retainer bracket clears the rear door window opening and the rear door glass run slides off.

5. Pull the rear door glass run out of the rear door window opening.

6. Raise the rear door window glass half-way and remove the rear door window regulator arm from the rear door window glass channel.

7. Lift the rear door window glass up and out of the rear door window opening.
If you really need the diagram that goes with it, I might be able to pdf it. Hope that helps, Cheers!

Bringing this topic back up.

I sold a set of my crew cab doors this weekend. I sold them as just shells, so I gutted them. I could get EVERYTHING out, EXCEPT the glass. I could NOT get the glass out of the door. They ended up going with the shell.

Do you have to take the metal runner off the bottom of the glass to get it out?

I couldnt turn the glass 90*, the door wasnt wide enough.

I want to put clear glass in place of my factory tint ones in my 97

Back from the dead!!

I FINALLY found some clear windows to replace the factory tint windows in the rear doors. I havent found much info on removal or installation. Any help would be appreciated.

I gotta admit I don't understand Patrick's directions. Maybe they will make more sense to me after I start tearing into it.

I'm assuming you got this doen already but..... in addition to what Patrick stated - you need to remove the exterior door handle ( and machanism to give yourself some room and you will need to remove the 2 nuts holding the window in place in the retainer. Once that's done - rotate the window 90 degrees ( I rotated toward the exterior handle - not sure it makes a difference) then slide it out.

getting ready to do the passengers door - will try to take some pics or video
