My truck broke down in Georgia last weekend. Its still there. Im trying to figure out whats going on before I go up there.

It will crank and struggle to start, run for about 3 seconds, then like chug out and die. Pouring out LOTS of black smoke.

Its an 06 f250. Fx4, automatic. Only mods are K&N intake and the CAT is removed.
It was just recently in the shop and the EGR cooler and water pump were replaced.

I just had the same issues without the smoke.

Truck cranks but acted like it was not getting fuel, hesitated starting, then had a rough idle for a few seconds. My issue was a bad ICP sensor but I am not sure it't the same problem as I had no smoke, but more of a lack of fuel?

Had a buddy go and check it out. Ran a scanner on it, and it said the crank angle sensor was bad.
Does this make sense for the problem im having?
Possibly replace this and I can get the truck to drive home?
