Ok guys, as most of you know, i have been here in Korea just a couple of weeks. We have what they say is an 03 6.0L (but it has an 05 front end and badges), but anyway, this truck has been in our shop for 9 months for a crank/no start condition. Our civilians apparently worked on it and couldnt figure it(we dont have the proper scan tool yet) and then they sent it downtown and it apparently was scanned won there and came up with no codes. What are some of the common problems with these engines for a crank/no start condition. Our first guess right now is the HPOP, we were thinking CPS, but they already changed it out and didnt fix it. Anyway, we do have another unit here on base that could possibly have a Genesis scanner that we can use, this should tell us everything we need to know. It obviously is not economical to make any guesses and just replace parts for now, since we are 6000 miles from the nearest american ford dealer, LOL. Any help with sending us in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

9 months
Ken, they need to buy you Auto Enginuity :poke:

You can plumb in a manual gauge and see if it's building the right amount of pressure.

I would also check fuel pressure / fuel pump?

6.0's have CPS's and IPR's too dont they? Unplug ICP sensor?

Sorry, not a 6.0 guy, a good scan tool is almost a must at this point.

yes, i believe they do have CPS, IPRs etc. ICP has been replaced, they used it as a parts vehicle for awhile to get others out of the shop, so all the parts that would possibly be the problem have been replaced.
So the ICP, GPR CPS etc have been replaced. Apparently the operator came out one day and it would start and hasnt started since. We are guessing the HPOP tho. Like i said, they say it is an 03, but it has an 05 front end and badges. What would unplugging the ICP do??

How much would Auto Engenuity cost??? I can probably have the bosses authorize me to order it. What will the Auto Enginuity do for me?? Send em a link for it

is it showing engine oil pressure on the dash when cranking? Thier is a check valve in the front behind the harmonic balancer that can get scarred up and cause no start issues

Right now we have dead batteries, so we have them on charge. There isnt anything going but the charging of batteries. So we will check oil pressure while cranking. We will check the check valve too! Thanks fellas

Ok, we found out the batteries were bad. We replaced them, and truck cranks like a raped ape. There was NO oil pressure building at all. So, HPOP bad?????? I need input as soon as someone sees this. Thanks. By the way, if it is the HPOP, anyone have the part number????

Ok guys, we did confirm it was the HPOP. When we pulled the old one out, it was seized, u could not turn it at all, and there was a bushing on the back side of it that was knocked out. Also, the HPOP changed from the 03-04 years to the 05 and newer. So be careful if you have to ever change this out. THis truck we have here has an 05 body style, but the VIN says it is an 03 which screwed everything up. I am guessing the frame is an 03 and everything else is 05. It isnt your typical Ford Super Duty either, it is a shorter frame and tows Aircraft generation equipment around, so Ford doesnt put this vehicle together. Thanks for all your help.
