So I'm about to go get my truck. Can I change a crank angle sensor in a parking lot, and can someone tell me where this sensor is so I know what I'm looking for.
Thanks y'all.

well you could change it in a parking lot, it is located on the passenger side of the engine, behind the A/C compressor, its held on by a 8mm bolt, you will have to do alot of it by feel since you wont be able to see the sensor very well.

Just out of curiosity, why is the sensor being replaced?

Are you getting an rpm signal? It is somewhat rare for it to fail.

I have read that a 16" ratchet extension and a pivoting adapter will get you to the bolt holding the sensor in. Long skinny arms are REALLY helpful.

I have also read about some folks removing the A/C compressor to access it more easily, but it really is a lot more work that way AND one bolt is at a horrible angle, so if you do .......... BE CAREFUL not to strip it.
