Could someone on here please give me the flat rate time to replace the y-pipe on my 2005 F250, 6.0l, 4x4 automatic. I don't have access to manuals and don't want to pay just for this. Believe mine is split have very high pitched squeal when first started cold, goes away when hot. Not able to roll under and look for carbon tracks

That's a pretty good labor rate. Obviously not a Master Diesel tech rate!
Guy works on powerstrokes only. Even does a lot of the local ford dealers work, sub-contracted. I vetted him closely and he is no joke a power stroke mechanic. I’m very particular about my truck, no one else has ever touched it. I’m not able to do that kind of work anymore so I’m giving him a shot at it. Time will tell…

Yep. Checked couple of dealers...on 150 and 160 hourly door rates. Now the mechanic tells me they are going by some flat rate program and they calculate warranty plus 40% or the flat rate and charge which is higher. The other issue is trying to just get an estimate from them. The phone goes to an automated answering and sends to a "scheduler " to make an appointment. Ask for estimate and they tell you they will have an advisor call you....no return call. When I left the industry the door rate was 100 flat rate hour and I was lucky to make 25. When I started I was making 60% so look at it now. Texas has hissy fits if union is even whispered....first hand knowledge here...basically caused me to have to leave...could not get a job close to home...was told by several managers that my reputation preceded me and they would not ever hire me.
