(No puking)Theres no residue on or around the degas cap area just on the back.Looks too be some build up on the seams at the back of the bottle.Ive had this bottle for >year its a dorman plastic one had it put on before doing the heads.Do you think it might just have a hair line crack?

Could be something....could be nothing. Put a T in the line going to the degas tank and put a PSI gauge on it. It should be around 0-8 psi when it's hot and you have a load on it. If you are getting up around 16psi, that means your cap in venting (probably EGR cooler leak or head gaskets). If you pressure is ok (0-8 psi)....you could just have a bad cap that's always venting even when it's not supposed to. Maybe you are just seeing a little condensation if it's venting?

Easiest thing to try first would be to just put a new cap on it.....clean up the tank, and see if the residue comes back.

I would try a new cap. Get a genuine FoMoCo piece for sure. Years ago, during heavy towing I was seeing streaks of dried coolant on the degas and the radiator was weeping at the crimp seam. We were out of state on vacation in Arizona with the boat and the thought of being stuck on I40 made me replace the ($$$) radiator. After the rad replacement, it was still weeping on the new radiator and light streaking on the degas bottle. I had thought I just fubarred an expensive radiator, due to some other problem.

I decided what the heck and threw a new cap on and no problems ever since. Now a new cap is part of my regular cooling system maintenance.

Also, make sure it isn't overfilled. There were some problems with the fill level marks and stickers on the degas bottles. Basically, I treat the MIN mark as full on my truck and no problems since.
