So much wrong or misleading info here...
I'll start with this:
-Is the turbine wheel itself, balanced like the Holset turbos? I doubt it is because it is used.
-Is the compressor wheel balanced? Some Garrett wheels are, some Schwitzer wheels are, some Holset wheels are - some aren't.
These two questions are critical when replacing any thing on the rotating assembly of your turbo.
Ideally, the turbine needs to come out, be cleaned, and balanced. The compressor wheel needs to be checked for balance also.
That being said, is your new compressor wheel a threaded wheel or does it take a nut?
-Threaded wheels on the small .25" shaft are 100 in/lbs with a compressor wheel at no less than 65 deg ambient temp
-Non threaded wheels that use nuts typically go around 105 in/lbs with a compressor wheel at no less than 65 deg ambient temp.
Garrett put out a service bulletin years ago to heat the compressor wheel, torque to 20 in / lbs, then turn 30 degs..... or something to that effect.
Most turbo rebuilding companies do not adhere to this bulletin.
