I'm back... I'm trying to get the parts ordered for this thing, I'm finding everything (OEM OD solenoid (sspc-b) and internal filter for the '08 transmission) but I'm getting conflicting part #'s on the transmission cartridge bypass filter that comes on the '03 6.0... I'm coming up with 3C3Z-7B155-BA (#FT-145) and 3C3P-7C012-AA (also shows #FT-145). I want to make sure I get the correct OEM bypass filter, what am I missing or are they the same?

You want the 3C3Z-7B155-BA. I've seen both up close and personal and don't recall seeing a difference, but there is a reason one is recommended for certain model years, so I don't stray unless I know for certain it will work.....or if I'm willing to gamble. lol Some of the documentation says the second part number replaces the first, but I can't find anything saying it's compatible with the earlier years. Order the 7B155 and if they send you the 7C012 as a suitable substitute then you'll know it's compatible.

I appreciate it again Weatherlite.. I'm getting everything ordered today!!

I'm finally moving it into the shop this afternoon. I've gotta change the shifter cable first anyhow, I've had the new cable sitting here for over a year so I figure now is the time. Lol

After an extended delay I'm finally getting to this thing!!

Dropped the pan and the first thing I noticed is the cap on what Im pretty sure is the OD/SSPC

-B solenoid (the solenoid in which I got the code on) is non existent..

I know it's supposed to be there and read damage can occur without it, do I need to be worried about any other damage?

I did find one very tiny piece of plastic in the pan (seemingly part of the cap?) but nothing else. I'm not sure if the rest came out when I drained the pan or not..

The plastic cap itself isn't critical....it's the adjustment underneath that matters. Supposedly if the cap is off the solenoid can come out of adjustment, though I don't know how since it takes an Allen wrench to do it. But, I suppose it's possible. Either way if it were my truck I would just swap out the solenoid, inspect what I could, and button it up. Oh, don't forget to do new filter as well. Hopefully you have the '08 tranny pan to go with the '08 tranny so you can use the right filter and not that crap that came on the early models. That's one of the next things I want to do to my '04.

Good luck!

Yessir, it has the '08 pan and filter and I already have the replacement filter here waiting. I'm replacing the by pass filter as well and it's a good thing I am. Holy crap...

Solenoid supposed to be here tomorrow so fingers crossed, I should know this weekend if it fixes it or not. Thanks brother

Finally got it back together, cleared the codes, and made it 1 block before it started flashing the tow/haul light again. Showing the same codes so I guess I just wasted a lot of time and money. I have no idea where to go from here....

@Mark Kovalsky @matthewd11 Since he tried changing out the solenoid, with the P2701 code does that mean he's most likely got a burnt clutch?

Where are you located OP?

It is also possible there is an issue with the coast clutch drum. The welds are known to break occasionally (although with higher HP). The overdrive clutch is a holding clutch that stops the coast clutch drum from spinning. When the overdrive clutch is applied and the weld is broken the Sun gear on the drum will not be held to change gear ratios.

With the ratio code and friction element code it’s quite possible that is your issue.

@matthewd11 I live in LaVergne, Tn. just SE of Nashville.

I can do basics on transmissions and remove and replace them but as far as deep internals, I'm honestly clueless. Yall have been a great asset as far as diagnosis and I very much appreciate it..

If you were closer I could help you, but that’s a bit of a drive from New England.

@matthewd11 I wish you were closer as well but I appreciate it anyhow. Road trip?!! lol.

Alright y'all, I'm guessing replacing the transmission is inevitable at this point.

While I did triple check everything underneath the transmission before buttoning it up, I apparently had a duh moment while refilling the fluid and was reading the stick wrong. I have no reasonable explanation for that but it happened.

After adding another 4.5 qrts I am no longer getting any transmission codes or flashing tow/haul light, BUT...

It starts off fine, makes the first shift fine, makes the second shift fine (whatever gear that is) then that's it, no more shifts and no OD.

AT 55 mph I'm turning 2200 rpm and at 75 mph I'm running 3400 rpm. Obviously I have no OD so it's now parked in the yard where it's likely going to stay for some time.

Again, I'm not getting any codes now and it's not going into limp mode even with those issues. At this point I'm just going in circles...
