I have 2002 f-250 7,3 power stroke..... 2-3 months ago i changed alterantor, when the old one blowed off the fusable link near the left battery burned, we fixed it with changable fuse, those big maxi fuses.

Non trouble until now, he blows the fuse.... alterantor output seems to be right above 17 volts.... and batterys get no charge becouse the fuse blows....

so is my near new alterantor burned or what might be happening???

2 hours before this started i was driving in water, might that have something to do with it??

yea 17v is over charging, proper charging is 13.3ish to a MAX of 15v

sounds like a bad voltage regulator...wich are serviceable seperate from the entire alternator...its the grey or black plasctic thing on the back where the harness plugs into the alternator..2 or 3 torx screws if i remember right
