Just curious why your changing the cups? Is one of yours cracked?

Might have to remove the passenger side motor mount and then lower that side of the motor to get more swing. Or just disconnect the passenger side mount and raise it up to get a better angle on it.

there is enough room, it just takes little whacks to do it. you will know when they are seated.

remove the AC box cover... Makes a world of differance. Only 8 small hex head screws and then its not bad at all.

oh fok.
i pulled all 8 cups,ok cool ill clean the tool and put er back in the box
??? omg wtf.NNNOOOOOOO..
found the corner of the tap is broken.(pretty sure i broke it,but maybe it came that way,but again i dont think so)
looked on the ground
looked on the bench
looked in the engine compartment
looked in the old cups
looked in the cylinders ,with very tiny flexable magnet took

cannot find little chip of the tap anywhere
its about an 1/8 inch high, and 1/4 inch wide in triangle shape..
and actuyally looks too big to fit through cup hole
looked everywhere,if its in the cylinder,im hopeing it embeds imeadeatly apon start up.....

no i didnt put anything in the bottom of the cups,to block such an occurence

ok let the roasting begine, guess i deserve it,feeling like an idiot
and prolly gotta buy swamps a new tap to boot..stupid,stupid,stupid :(

I wonder how many times the tool had been actually used??? Things don't last forever. That really sucks about not having anything down in the bottom of the cups before you put the puller in there. Hope you find the broken piece and it's not in the cylinder chamber.

Can you rent a borescope? Man, I feel for you. I'm on the wait-list at Swamps to borrow a set of tools. Sounds like a nightmare-ish scenario to me...

The tap I used from them back in August of 09 was beat up. I think all 4 flutes were cracked or damaged, yours probably came that way. Good luck.

I think you're supposed to throw a penny in the cup first. The shavings from the tapping process could also go down there right? So how was that rear p-side cup?

I wouldn't want to do them in the truck, out of the truck though, 10 minutes.

The tap I got from Swamps was in perfect shape.
