CCT #3&#8 fail, grey CPS "surging" idle

So CCT fails number three and eight. I know this can be associated with which CPs you have. I have tried both the original black and a new grey CPS. The idle "surge" happens when driving highway or around 45mph then coming to a stop or going from any gear to coast in neutral. At stop lights the RPMs drop to about 300 for a second or two then raise back up to regular idle speed. The idle is the slightest roughness almost feels like a bad motor mount (but my mounts are fine). I'm not seriously concerned but hoping this isn't indicative of a growing problem.

Could this be IPR or ICP related? No change with the one on the drivers side valve cover unplugged (icp?)
Re: CCT #3 fail, grey CPS "surging" idle

does your truck have a manual transmission?

cyl 3 & cyl 8 are companion cylinders...

we see #3/#8 CCT faults on manual transmission trucks due to external balance issues (clutch/pressure plate/flywheel, etc)...

even bad torque converters on auto trucks can show 3 & 8 CCT faults.

basically any internal and/or external component within the engine or trans can affect the balance of the engine, and could be suspect when 3 & 8 are both consistently failing a CCT...assuming injector(s)/compression, etc are all ruled out as a potential (normal) cause.

A buzz test sounded good, nice and loud all injectors sounded the same. The clutch is noisy or maybe that's gear rollover. It does seem to shake a tad more clutch engaged at idle. But I'm more concerned with the dropping idle and occasionally mild rough idle. Didn't know if those codes were related.
Could this just be normal HPO stuff? When rpms are high and drop quick does the HPO drop down straight to idle leaving not enough pressure to power the injectors during the RPM drop? Or is this a sign that my HPOP needs time to build up pressure because its old? I want to fine a cause of this before I get stranded somewhere.
