Bypass Oil Filters

What's the current setup people are running for bypass oil filters? Or is building your own the current thing for everyone?

My 99.5 which I'll be selling has an oilguard filter (now Eco Micro Filters) on it and their customer service sucks. I would like to replace the canister the one on the truck is a little rusty and I can't get anybody on the phone or to return an email. Needless to say I'm not excited to buy another one if their products even though it has been a good filter and leaves me with clean oil at a 10,000 mile filter change interval with T6.

I found the woodnthings8 write up of the home made filter and it seems legit and gives me multiple mounting options for where I want the filter. My old one being outside the frame rail subjected it to a lot of road spray I'd like this one to be a little closer to the engine and higher up on the frame if I can get it there. I also like the idea of being able to punch a hole in the filter to drain it when I change it vs the canister that dumps oil all over everything.

Those are the instructions I found too. I think I'll be following them for the most part. I'm thinking I'll mount the filter horizontally as far forward on the frame rail as I can get it to minimize road spray and allow me to run the longer filter for more filter media exposure. Looks pretty straight forward and the return on investment is pretty quick, filters are pretty cheap too. I have been very happy doing 10,000 mile filter changes running rotella t6 and replacing about a gallon with the 2 filter fill ups.
