OK I have 325/60 18's and am wondering if going to a bigger/taller tire will help fuel millage or not?

thanks,

I tried it to help my overall gear ratio on my E350 bus. Went from a 225/75R16 to a 235/85R16, and my mileage went down.

I think there are several factors. First, the tire are usually heavier as a result of the extra size. Next, because one is going to a taller tire, the vehicle has more air moving under it that further disturbs the aerodynamics beyond what traveling at the same speed while using less RPM's.

On my current E350 van, I might consider going to a narrower tire with about the same overall height (245/75R16 to a 215/85R16). Haven't made the decision yet as I don't really need new tires right now.
