I'm posting this up for a buddy of mine. He has a 2006 6.0L he just bought with 130k miles. He told me that when he turns the truck off, he smells this burnt smell. When he is going from 10 - 20 mph, the truck jumps a little.
Does anyone have any idea what it could be. Oh also, it's stock.

He needs to get a scangauge or better yet, an autenginuity. He needs information on all his fluid temperatures (at a minimum).

Does he have manual or auto locking hubs? Have him put the front of the truck in the air and check if he is in 4x4 or if hubs are locked, this might cause hopping, depending if the gears are worn maybe even a burn smell. Other things that cause this smell, could be brakes, has he checked these? To try and narrow it down, have him start the truck and let it run for a while, rev it or anything then shut it off and see if he smells anything, if not its a possibility its not the engine.
