My grandfather just gave me his old '84 F250 plow truck...6.9, 4sp manual. It has been broken down for 10mo or so now, didn't know why. When I went to look at it yesterday, I found out the adapter plate between the engine and transmission had broken off where the starter bolts on...starter almost hanging out of the bell housing.

Anyone ever seen or repaired this? I'd love to repair it in the truck as i already need to install a clutch in my '95 and rebuild the engine on my F-800...My winter is filling up quick!

Thanks,
Phillip

Maybe put in back in place and drill the starter holes all the way thru into the bell housing

Those plates are everywhere, next question, is the engine seized? I have never seen a broken plate.

Not seized...I got one of the guys at work to pull start it this afternoon. Fired right up...bad blown head gasket...coolant blowing out the back drivers side.
