Where does the instrument cluster gauge get this value from? Not like it's grossly exaggerated to think it's pushing 40 psi as the gauge claims, but mine is all over the place with no noted loss of power.

map sensor. threaded into the top of the intake manifold on the passenger side near the front.

if it is a tuned 6.4, it will be making over 40psi, closer to 50 depending on tunes.

the reason the gauge fluctuates is because of the vgt turbo. it adjusts the vanes depending on speed and throttle input.

They do become plugged from a combination of egr soot & CCV oil vapor. Pull the sensor & see what it looks like.
Precisely the problem. Took a chance with ruining something delicate on a $35 part by spraying it out with brake cleaner. Worked like a charm so far.... But shouldn't that malfunctioning sensor thrown off idle and air/fuel as well? It's a little odd only a gauge went haywire
