I have an ITP boost fooler and used to run a DP chip. I now have PHP tunes. From what I understand, PHP tunes do not trip the boost ses code. I am really happy with my PHP tunes, but do not want to ditch the boost fooler if most of the other tuners still require it. Does anybody know if the foolers are needed with Swamps or the majority of other tuners?

I yanked mine out when I bought the Minotaur from PHP. Bill's tunes he sent me with the package didn't require the boost fooler.

Make sure to be specific about what is meant by necessary. Some may think no SES light means a BF is not needed when in fact is it can be that the tuner turned off the SES light /code but the issue still exsists. Our indicator of the issue is no longer functioning. I known that [email protected] gearhead has been able to make the changes so that a BF is no longer needed. IIRC SWAMP, Beans still need it. Last time I looked DP only disabled the SES and code (as that is why they offer code tunes) from being tripped but don;t know if anything has changed

I would imagine that Bill did it so that the light is not just turned off, and the code no longer exists.

I thought some are using the map for tuning. Nothing else on the truck monitors boost and sends the info to the PCM. It seems to me that in order to get a proper amount of fuel the PCM needs to see the boost.

Except that the stock MAP sensor is a 0-5 volt sensor that is only capable of reading up to about 25 PSI so anything over 25 PSI isn't recognized by either the MAP sensor or PCM anyway.
