I am going out of town and will be leting the 2004 6.0 sit should i leave the block heater pluged in? It is going to freez that week im gone or would it be ok just to plug it in a a few hours when i get back befor i start it up?

agreed. unless you have money to throw away to the power company.
plug it in two or three hours before you are going to fire it up and you will be golden.
