My brother just bought a 00' 7.3, When driving it above 75 mph it starts dinging. Kinda like a door dinger. It would only do it above 75, but anything under 75 it doesn't do it. We're gonna go get it scanned for codes and see if anything shows up. Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

Your driving to fast. It's telling you to slow down. :D Your favorite Ford stealer should be able to get rid of the alarm.

Is there any chance that the actual mechanical device in the door that lets the "dinger" know that it's closed and to shut up is simply getting dislodged at that speed because of the vibration associated with that or greater speed?

Like maybe it's the road vibration, not the actual speed doing it. Put the truck on jackstands and run it up and see if it still happens.

Then you can rule out any possible electronic relationship to an actual speed.

Have the jackstands attached to another Powerstroke, and at 80 MPH have the other truck jerk the jackstands out.

Make sure you are all clear in front and hang on.

that sounds real safe

Troubleshooting:

If rolling the tires over while it's on jack stands is too emotionally stressful, generously apply a very liberal amount of Vagisil to groin area on the effected individual.
