I installed a bd diesel torque convertor and already had a banks trans command on it. I also installed a derale trans pan and a derale filter kit. Ive got a ts chip, and when simply towing a 5-6k trailer it starts to climb up to 220 degrees. that seems really hot because I also own a 01 f350 and that one usually stays at 160-180tops. Wondering if anyone has had similar issues, I'm thinking it might be the trans command having an issue with convertor maybe.

If that banks thing is easy to disable or remove, I would probably try that real quick first.

Did the converter require any pump mods? Some converters do. I second the trans command comment above. Cheers!

I’ll try disconnecting it tomorrow, should trans temp keep going up even if truck is idling?

Not forever...it should plateau if its just sitting there idling in park/neutral. Kinda depends on how long its sitting there running but it shouldn't be getting past operating temp, and definitely not overheating if thats what you're after.
