The last two days my truck kept dying for no reason. It was just like cuttung the key off, there was no warning. It kept starting back after a few cranks. Finally it wouldnt start back so I took my chip out and it started fine, drove it a while come back installed the chip again, wouldnt start so took it back out and runs fine. Do chips go bad or whats going on??

Definately clean the contacts on the pcm good, use some alkyhaul and a green scrub pad, don't take it to the copper, just go over it good. If it still does it, send the chip to me and I will reburn it for ya and see if thats what the problem is.

I clean the chip with an alcohol swab as well as the PCM. I also use clear packing tape to hold the chip in place so it will not work loose. I clean the contacts and replace the tape about twice a year.
