Big dumb redneck
So I'm the kind of guy who prefers to have control over when my truck shifts as opposed to a computer doing it for me at the wrong time. I've had a pair of ZF6 trucks in the past...traded in one for the dually I have now. At that time, I couldn't find a ZF equipped drw 6.0 within 500 miles, so I went auto. It's been fun, and of course easier in traffic, but recently we moved out of the city, so no more stop and go on a daily basis. Been tossing around the idea of a ZF swap, but never really looked into what all was involved. Thinking about it, it doesn't seem like a huge undertaking, but this isn't something I've tackled in the past. So from any of you who've done it, what all is involved? What is a ballpark price for making the swap? I should be able to source out most of the parts locally. just tossing this idea around in my head and wanted to hear from any who have actually gone from auto to ZF6.
