1. insanity

(unless you want to drag race or otherwise go fast with it)

Then about 4-5K in mods to a trans
trans
flex plate
steering column (they are the same but the shift lever lays into them)
instrument cluster
shift cable
auto PCM or just have an auto burn done on your chip
I would recommend changing the wiring harness also instead of half assing it
adapter plate between bell housing and engine
longer dowels
fill the hole in the floor pan
remove the clutch assy
remove the clutch safety switch
auto transfer case
my drive shafts worked when swapping to the standard fwiw
cross member is made for both auto/standard (two sets of holes)

buy a donor truck or find someone with the same year truck going the other way.

craig just find an auto truck and either swap motors or put your goodies on it, then just sell your truck. I think that would be the best route so it doesnt make your truck a science project.

If you go through the conversion forum, you will find the lists of the things you need. Why you need to sell your truck...is beyond me. Guys putting Cummings in their trucks is a lot more complicated.

I'm in the middle of doing the swap to auto as well. No big deal, my .02

It is not a hassle for starters.

If you find the donor truck, or someone going the other way it is easy.

Just make sure you do it correctly, not cutting corners IE.

A weekend will do the swap if all the parts are correct. I know how it is to get a truck set up power wise and then decide to swap transmissions. (due mostly to it taking about $4K to make an auto stand up tp any kind of hp)

FTR it may be easier to just trade the truck and swap the goodies. But mine was a ccsb lariat......hard to get rid of for an xlt 6-speed. haha

I agree, it was no harder than any other project. As long as you have the donor truck to get parts from. You will need the under the hood harness, which is something I didn't plan on. But it was easy, I would do it again.
