Would anything bad happen if the ratio of antifreeze to water ratio was over 50/50 (more than 50% antifreeze)?

70-30 is good to around -55 to -60, that's what we mix it to around here.

IIRC strait antifreeze is only good to -30 I think.........weird how that works.

most optimal mix is 68/32

straight antifreeze will freeze at -8 Degrees while 50/50 will freeze at -34 degrees but 68/32 will freeze and around -80 degrees but then you factor pressure and boiling points. if you used strait water your boiling point would roughly be 212 degrees 50/50 226 degrees an 100%antifeeze would be 330 degrees. For every psi in the cooling the boiling point raises 3 degrees. So 50/50 is recomened by most but for the best pertection i would go 60/40 or so Sorry thats All I knowabout anifreeze

If 50/50 (-34°F) doesn't give you the freeze protection you need then you have no choice but to use a higher concentration. A 70/30 will put your freeze point at -84°F. If -34 is enough freeze protection then there is no reason to use a higher concentration. There is only about 10° difference in the boiling point between a 50/50 and a 70/30 and the 50/50 mix will cool better. You can decrease the antifreeze to 40% and still have enough corrosion protection.

I am not arguing saying the 50/50 is a bad choice I am just saying for those how want the lowest freezing point 68/32 is the way to go but you really don't nned that mixture
