On my way to classes today, my alternator died and I am wondering which is best from a local parts place to get one from. I'm not entirely sure I got enough charge to make the 20 mile journey back home since it died almost immediately once I left my house. My plan is to just replace it in a parking lot this evening since this is my daily driver.

Who should I go get one from that will last me the longest?

Truck is a 95 f250.

All of the part stores alternators are a crap shoot. Unless perhaps you can purchase a new one and not a rebuilt unit.

The last alternator that I bought from a parts store was bad right out of the box along with 3 others before I finally got a good one.

But you have to buy what is available.

^^^^tru dat^^^^

just get one with a lifetime warranty and save your receipt! I am partial to O'Rielly's but I have had my disappointments from there also.

My plan was to get one from O'Rielly's and then have my old one professionals rebuilt. I just need something to get me on the road tonight and keep me on the road for a little bit.
