Hey guys,

I recently purchased this 6.0 (picture in avatar) and i noticed it had a afe intake "stage 2", I believe installed. From the brand on the intake and heat guard and from what I've seen in pictures online.

My question.....

I didn't notice this before but I spun the air filter and saw that its a AFE intake set up with a Spectre filter on it!!! (SEE ATTACHED PIC)

Now, coming from the 7.3 and having a 6637 napa filter on mine - i'm not too familiar with cold air intake set ups on these. I do not have the stock set up as its been removed previous to me or i'd put that back in from what I have seen recommended in other posts.

Occationally at WOT when i'm messing about the air flow sensor will come on (yellow arrow thing in the top right). Is this because this cheap filter isn't allowing enough air flow? Can I leave this filter on? Whats the deal?

Is there a better one I can pick up local?

Thanks!

is the MAF sensor clean? also if that filter is coated in oil (like a K&N), too much oil can cause a MAF code due to it becoming dirty, then the oil being sucked off it latter causing the light to go away. i over oiled mine one time and that is how i solved it.

It is not a oiled filter and seems to be new and very clean.

Sensors seen to be fine also.

I'm assuming this filter sucks balls?

could be... did you pull and clean the sensor though? and if you did, then i would look at the next cheapest step, meaning trouble shooting the wires, then either a MAF sensor or filter, what ever is cheapest IMO

but for the record, any "need for speed" part like that, coming off a shelf at an auto parts store are usually always junk.
