I never saw a hp setting in there.
The E4od is an electronically controlled transmission, but the control still depends on mechanical parts and sealing. The click you hear should be the actuator moving. Ohm the pack anyway. Check your shaft seal. Then check your pump valves and halves for more mixed parts. There are many mix-ups like that out there disguised as cores.
Unless the case was dropped or lube starved, the tranny isn't the cause of the crack. It's the victim. Check your driveline for bind ups elsewhere.
