help i bought a new gem module but the module that i thought it was is the vech. security module and i cant find the gem and yes my truck has both???? where is the sob

2002 and up don't use a GEM they use a VSM so if you bought a GEM it won't work in your truck. The VSM is under the dash on th firewall right in the middle and it has 2 plugs going into it.

yes 2002 do have a gem module and a vechile seurity module.
the VSM is under the radio on the firewall.
the gsm is on the right side of the glove box once it is removed.

So why did you need to change the GEM and what does it control.

i would be drving and all of a sudden my power locks would go insane, and starting today with the truck off the vsm will be clicking non stop. so i picked peoples brain and came up it was either the vsm or the gem. but on the door locks the gem comands the vsm to actuate them but when you hit the remote the vsm comands them directly, whereas when you hit the door switch it goes throught eh gem then the vsm. gem = General Electrical Module
if this doesnt fix it onlt y thing left is the vsm which is onlly 150 buck the gem was the cheaper of the 2 at 111

I have a question what if the remote or the switches on the door will not make the actuators work which one is it then and did the GEM solve your problems.

i didnt get a chance to drive the truck yet but its not clicking just standing still anymore that good but il drive after hearos is over here in a bit. i dont understand your question are you asking if it was acting up would the controls still work? no they wouldnt if thats what your asking
