I am installing 2 flood light bars on my rear bumper. I am wiring them to an aux switch, but I also am planning on wiring them to come on with my back up/ reverse lights.

I figured the easiest way to tap into the reverse lights would be the 7 way trailer plug (center pin wire) instead of searching for the correct taillight wire.

Can anyone confirm that the center pin in the trailer plug is for backup lights?

I turned my key to on position and placed truck in reverse and used a tester but had no power on center pin.

Am I missing something?

This is the diagram right on the plug

Top: RH turn/brake
Bottom: LH turn/ brake

Top right: marking/ running lights
Bottom right: ( + )

Top left: ( - )
bottom Left: trailer brakes

Center pin: backup lights.

I'm guessing the bottom right (+) is for 12v accessory ( trailer battery)

And the top left (-) would be ground

I have power on every pin except center pin.

I did that ...... Kinda LOL I just wired them to a 7 round plug then plugged it in, I'll wire them up better when it gets nice out.
