I have this noise that is driving me crazy. Under acceleration, usually going up hill or pulling a load it sounds like the old rusty speedometer cables of yesteryear. It sounds like it is coming from under or in front of the dash on the driver side. It is kind of a ginding, scraping, rubbing type of sound. It only seems to happen under load and for intermittent times. I hope the analogy of what the old speedo cables sounded like when they were wore out or not lubed helps. Any ideas? This rig does have 375,000 miles on it and has been the best truck I have ever owned, but this noise is frustrating!

With the motor shut off, pull your intake tube off. Spin the turbo, listen for noise. Try to wiggle the turbo wheel up and down and in and out. Let us know what you find out.

BTW, Welcome to the Nation.

Sounds like turbo surge. If there's no play in the shaft, than an ats ported shroud should fix it. With that many miles on it i would also rebuild it.
