I recently sold my 95 f350 psd to pay off some tax debt...

I own a 63 F100 unibody 2wd with a 460/c6 shortbed, this is a project truck and not currently running.. Truck has been passed through the family for over 25 years. I had plans of making this truck a 2wd hot rod, but tomorrow morning I'm going to look at and hopefully buy a donor truck for the swap, truck has no title.. Its an 88 F350 crew cab long bed dually 5 speed 4x4 dana 60 front king pin axle and a 12 valve after cooled cummins turbo diesel, the aftercooler is clogged and the truck has no title but runs and drives! I have plans of shortening the frame, converting to single rear wheel and putting the cab and body from the 63 onto it.

Has anybody done a cummins swap on a pre 65 ford ? I searched and did not find any pictures... I will be sure to take tons of pictures tomorrow of both trucks, the fummins just needs an intercooler swap.

That is, if I do end up buying the donor truck tomorrow...

Sorry I havent posted pictures yet, been very busy. Anways, cleaned the aftercooler and she runs now like a raped ape, the turbo is a holset h1c, before she wouldnt even boost a pound, thats how clogged the cooler was, my boost gauge only goes to 15 but she will peg it at 2/3 throttle.

Gonna pull the cab off the 88 today and start to do some measuring, pictures will follow soon!

Got the cab and bed off the 88, cab is loose on the 63. The 88 frame is going to need to be shortened aprox. 58 inches to get the wheel base to match up.

I will be using the brake booster, master cylinder and clutch pedal assembly along with the go fast pedal and oh #### pedals, along with a handful of other miscellanieous parts from the 88 cab.

The 88 has 2 tanks in it, the front tank will no longer be used because it sits in a section of the frame I intend to shorten. I might try using the in cab tank from the 63 as well.

Will probally be leaving the truck DRW.

Sounds like this thing is going to be awesome, I can't wait to see some of your pics.
I will be uploading pictures later tonight, been super busy working on her.
I see you're located in Ohio, I lived there a couple years in Hamilton, i'm back out in Colorado now. I still have a few good buddies there in Ohio and I actually might be making a road trip there this summer in this truck, if you're anywhere near there I would be glad to show you truck.

Got 25" of the frame cut out and welded today, gonna cut the remaining 29" tomorrow and hopefully start fitting the cab and bed.

My brother is doing a 76 f350 onto a 1990 dodge cummins, if it was me I would put the cummins into the 65 you have and change the rear axle of the 65

The truck is a 63 f100 unibody, they didnt make a unibody in 65. I'm using the 88 frame because its more modern and alot easier to get parts for, the 63 f100 unibody that I have is 2wd, for the swap i'm doing there is alot less work involved from where I look at it to just shorten the 88 frame and fab up some body mounts for the 63.

The 88 frame is also alot easier to get parts for and alot stronger. Putting the cummins into the 63 frame would be alot of work, its already in place on the 88 frame, the truck was a running driving truck.

Got the frame all shortened braced/welded this weekend. Yesterday I got the rear driveshaft professionally shortened for the proper wb. Frame is going to be completly stripped of rust and repainted flat black, the 12 valve is getting a gloss black paint job, the radiator is going to be stripped of its black paint to brass which will be polished, turbo is going to come off and get polished, copper radiator hose accents. Found some high temp copper engine paint that I am going to try out on the fuel and brake lines, im thinking a 6" single raw stainless steel tig welded cat style stack out the bed..

Will be uploading more pictures this evening!

Post up, let me know what you think.

Completely shortened, got it into my garage due to bad weather, we got over 1' of show here in Longmont, CO. We're at about 4900' elevation.

Here is some of my buddies helping me out yesterday.

Fits into the garage nicely

Looks like an awesome build! Please reconsider your keeping it DRW. The '63 would look so much cleaner converted to SRW so you can just have the original classic body. Hey, it's your truck... Gonna be one of a kind man!

Makes me miss my old '66. :(
