Gotta know....what are the 20+ foot cables for?
Battery relocation. I can take some pictures later of how it is so far. Didn't have enough room in the engine bay for 1 battery much less 2, so I am forced to go this route.

That's a lot of wire! Like the professional look of it.

Is that welding cable? If so, I can't recommend enough to shrink wrap it with marine grade shrink wrap. Welding cable isn't oil resistant and will swell and the cover will deteriorate when oil and fuel get on it.

It might be the same as welding cable, all I know is that it was recommended for use as battery cables, especially over the distance I would be covering. Thanks for the heads up though.

Got it cranking today. Here is some video proof for yall. Very close to getting it running, I am pretty sure I will need to tune it to get it there, or at least running half decently, and that stuff is very expensive for me, so it might be a minute. I am still hunting after a few misc parts, like the 2 brake lines from the ABS module to the master cylinder. I can still run it without stuff like that, but that tune will take a while for me to allocate money for, so im hoping to wrap up stuff like that in the meantime. Getting it road ready will be another section entirely, but that is for later. For now, I am sitting back, enjoying this small (major) victory in my constant wrestling match with this thing...

You might not be all the way there yet, but this is a major step forward!

Where did you get that wrap for the turbo? And what brand alternator is that? I'm assuming it's an HO unit?

It's a PTP Turbo Blanket iirc. The alternator is a DC Power 270 amp alt. Has a built in clutch and all sorts of things. Super cool unit.

So, recently I have been trying to get this thing running, and I've found myself at a bit of a roadblock. I can key the truck on from the ignition, injectors buzz and fuel pump runs, but I cannot seem to get the dang thing to fire. All parameters check out, except that it has no FICM sync. Cam/crank sync, but no FICM to PCM sync. I am also almost certain that the instrument cluster I bought out of an 06 KR is toast; it gets power key on, as evidenced by the battery and airbag lights, but thats it. No other lights or gauges. Not sure if the cluster and FICM sync issues are related or not, but thats where I am at as of now, likely needing to get the cluster repaired, and figure out if my no sync is FICM, wiring, or PCM.

I might make another thread about it to get some outside thoughts about it, Im kinda pulling my hair out over it right now. I hate being so dang close but so far at the same time haha.

I had the same problem with my truck. Granted mine is an 03-04 so it might be a little bit different. I was missing a ground inside the cab. Cluster did nothing other than throw a battery light. Theres a pink and yellow wire that needs to be grounded. It ties in to the brake switch, should be able to check for ground there. Finally got back on here after a few months. Truck looks awesome! Nice work

@farley463 Well...wish I had known that before I ordered a new cluster a few days ago. I will try to see if I missed any grounds this weekend, but I kinda hope not since I can't really return the new one I just bought. Thanks for the info though.

Shoot. Wish I would've seen this sooner! Do you just have the dash harness laid out in the truck for now or what? Mine was such a spaghetti mess trying to eliminate all of the nonsense. Let me know if you need diagrams or anything. I have access to prodemand so I can get just about anything you might need

Nah, its all in the dashboard, where its gonna stay haha. I have the Ford wiring manual for the 05 F-series trucks, and I thought I accounted for all the grounds listed, but I wouldn't be surprised if I missed one honestly. Thanks for the offer though. I will surely update when its fixed either way.

Whoa tiger, hold on there. I'll try to start it up tonight, but me thinks it won't run without a tune...and I still don't know if there is any other "grounds" that i forgot. I will give it a shot though, and update later tonight.

Well I am sitting here in the truck, trying to get it to fire, and it just doesn't want to. Cluster and all that works now, but I don't have a scanner with me so I can't figure out what's keeping it.
Found plenty of issues though. Interior lights won't shut off, wipers turn on for a bit every time you key it on, and the door ajar alarm beeps quite long when keyed on too. I reckon it's because of the fact I have no airbags hooked up. Anyhow, it's very close, but now there are even more little fires to put out...

Ok, brought scanner home tonight, still no ficm sync. I am starting to fear a pcm issue, but I am not familiar with this issue myself, so i will need to dig a bit more.
