I have an 04 f250. The problem I got with the 4x4 is it will lock in if you put the hubs in lock, but if it is in auto the hubs wont engage. I think I got a vaccum leak, but was wondering where I need to look to get this problem fixed? Thanks in advance.

When you try to engage the hubs via the switch does your heater automatically go to defrost & stay there ?? thats a first sign of a vacuum leak.

First place I would look is the vacuum hoses under each front wheel well that go down to each front spindle & slip over a small fitting on the front side of the spindle

make sure either one has not cracked, torn or fallen off. Replace if so.

Next step is replacing the big ( 4" ) vacuum seal in the back or each hub, you can not see it without first removing the wheel bearing.

Hope this helps!!
