i put 132,000 miles of abuse so far on the bilstein 5100 series shocks on the 02 diesel and they are still fine. .
Beat me to it, was going to suggest the same. Shock Surplus had good prices a year or so ago, check them out.

I am looking at the Bilstein 4600 series. 5100 is for lifted trucks with longer shock travel. The price difference is substantial. If you need regular replacement shocks and want good quality, go with the 4600's and save some cash. The 5100s will do nothing better on a stock height/wheel vehicle.

Another vote for Bilsteins, 4600. I put them on both my 350s.

"5100 is for lifted trucks with longer shock travel"
Have to provide a correction, the 5100 CAN be purchased for lifted trucks needing the longer shock travel, but come in sizes to fit 99-03 F250's as well. I love them and they brought my truck suspension back to life as the original shocks from 03 were still on the truck.

As you pointed out, the 4600's would work well too, but I researched heavily and found the 5100's to be higher rated overall (reviews being subjective of course). Bilstein B8 5100 Monotube Shocks Set for 1999-2004 Ford F250 Super Duty 4WD

You can spend more if you want.. here is straight from the horse's mouth:
B6 4600 Versus B8 5100
"The 4600 series will ALWAYS ride better at stock height"

To support the research provided here, Bilstein 4600 vs 5100 Series, What are the Major Differences?.

5100 would be a better choice for larger tires over stock, as well as lifted rigs. If you are planning on doing those mods later, get the 5100 series, if not, 4600 will do. I have the 5100 series as I have Nitto Ridge Grapplers on 16" stock wheels because my preferred tire, Michelin 10-ply, are no longer made in 16" and put the larger Nitto skins on, as well as the 5100 series were promoted to be for off road use, which I may do sometime in the future.

The price I paid a year ago was comparable, on sale, to the ~$320 per set of the 4600 series today, so Inamnhappy with that value for my my truck.

No matter how you choose, you will get outstanding service from a great product.

I'll be in the minority here, but I recently put Rancho 9000XLs on my 04 F250 and absolutely love them...a major improvement over what was on the truck (older Bilstein's). Haven't played with the adjustability of them yet, but so far I am extremely happy with the results.

There is no 'right answer' to many mods, good to hear a different viewpoint and experience.

Thanks scotty.vincent! I only mentioned that because most folks on all the powerstroke forums vote for Bilstein's...and really, you can't go wrong with them. The Rancho 9000XLs were in the same price point as the Bilstein's so I rolled the dice on them because they offer ride adjustability of soft for around town and stiff for towing or hauling at a fraction of the cost of Fox. Time will tell if they were worth the money...so far I am very happy with them.

As I just mentioned in my own shock thread, I just had a great experience with the 4600's. Major improvement from what I had. Truck rides like a dream.
And if the 4600's do that for an F450 Dually, they definitely would be good for an F250 SRW. Thanks for sharing.
