Hello!
I've owned several chevy and dodge diesels before, but just got a great deal on a 1999 Ford F250 with a 7.3TD in it.
My question is, due to zero experience with Ford, was there different 7.3 litres engines released from Ford in 1999? Because he just said it was a 7.3 td, NOT a 7.3 Powerstroke..
And is there anything special I should look after while inspecting this veichle before purchase?
Thanks in advance
Only a Powerstroke in 1999. "great deal" can be misleading, depending on the condition of the vehicle. There are some good threads on here, use the search function.
7.3 dt?
Whatever he told you is wrong. yes there is only one 7.3l in 99. the powerstroke. No such thing as a dt....I am guessing its meant to be td...turbo diesel
all 7.3l powerstrokes are DI-direct injection from 94.5 to mid year 03. earlier 7.3l engines prior to 94.5 can still be turbo diesel...7.3 td. but they are not powerstroke. they are IDI- in direct injection.
There were two versions of the 7.3 in 99 . The early E99 and mid year through 2003 model year are different in several ways. Injectors, turbo, IDM,left manifold, up pipe, intake plenums, spyder, etc are different between the early and late 99's.
