Hello to the group
im posting in behalf of a friend, this is his issue and
1997 Ford F 350 E40D. Transmission rebuild at 200.000 miles. Now it has 320.000 drove with no problema till now.
In 3rd and 4th seems that the torque converter is not locking because when geting to 55 mph when driving it used to get to 1500 rpms. Now it doesnt. The revs go UP to 2.000 and does not hold the gear. So mpg whent UP. Its líke there is a bad reading in the Ecu.

Atf is good, in level. Changed it 6000 miles ago. Shift between gears are soft as always. There is no check engine light nor overdrive off light blinking in the shifter i connected the truck to a good scanner and got two codes: p0344 and p0603, that seems no related to my problem.

We did some work on the truck and cut the third brake light. And also Changed the back lights. I cleanned the solenoid plugs and the neutral safety switch also. The truck has now a Camper with the same weight than before. So i dont think there is a problem with the Campers weight.

What can it be?

any input is highly apprecciated

many thanks

its the 3rd break light. You either need to hook up a light to the 3rd break light or a 50 watt 5 ohms resistor so the computer sees the resistance in the circuit. if you continue to drive the truck like that you will take you TC out and do damage to your tranny.

Did the problem start before or after you worked on the truck?
Hi, the problem starts after my friend worked on the truck.

KIB7.3 , makes sense to me what you said, and it is an easy and cheap fix, hopefuly is just that.

Will post the progress

thanks!
