Hey Guys,

I put my 97’ 7.3 in storage in Tallahassee FL when my husband and I were relocating post Air Force. The guys I left it with in storage promised to drive it and keep it moving every week. Long story short it was there a year and I don’t think this guy drove it once. When I left it everything worked like a dream. It’s started when I got there but was idling crazy rough, some white smoke. I put seafoam in the tank topped off all the fluids and took it down the road 65 miles to my friends ranch where I would have the space to drain everything and start fresh, plus I thought if I just started running the gunk out and getting new fluids it would start smoothing out. I Still need to oil change this morning but it’s not getting much better. No power to get up and go, petal to the metal and your still creeping up to that second shift at 20mph, slows to 35/40mph on hills, hard shift to 2nd and not wanting to go over 60mph. Put it in reverse and it wants to stall…. Anyway, I’m 800 miles from home in the Florida central panhandle and know no mechanics so help here would be SO appreciated!

Got it fixed! No check engine light. Ended up being the computer that was killed from the pull from the bad batteries while it sat for a year. 4 injectors weren’t firing. Dropped a rebuild computer in and got it purring!

Be prepared for future problems. I know of trucks that have sat in a farmers field longer than a year an ran like a champ once started.

The PCM needs around 10 +volts to turn it on.

One bank of 4 injectors not firing is more likely a IDM or wiring problem.

Thanks for the heads up! We put a new comp in and it’s running great now so I am hoping that’s all it was.

Likely rubber parts, may be perished. Fuel, oil, all that stuff. On the right path though. Setting for a yr,never drove it. Radiator and stuff too. Gonna have stuff in it. If it were gas, I'd say ethanol has gone off. But it's diesel so that's OK too. But yeah.. seals and such can go off. Pregnant huh, congratulations.
