I FOUND IT!!!

OK, a little clarification first.
I distinctly remeber seeing a Ford ad that showed the new '08 Superduty and it's magical tailgate with the built in step, because it had the Ford PN for the tailgate assy. I had no idea where I saw it though.

I have been driving (OK mybe only a short putt!) myself nuts looking for the ad.
Well, I found it today. It is on the inside front cover of the April '07 issue of DieselPower magazine.

So, here is what Ford printed for all the world to see, PART# 8C34-99402A48-A.
Now, can one of the sponsors check and see if this number is any good, and post any details such as color selection and maybe prices?

I know there are members here who had expressed an interest in getting one of these trick new tailgates, so here is a lead.

Now lets see if Fords parts department can deliver.

the step mechanism alone has a list price of over 450.00. the handle that pops up out of the tailgate has a list price of over 100.00.

keep in mind you will still need the tailgate assembly made for the step tailgate.

the high costs is the very reason i went with the non-step version of the 2008 tailgate.

Just a quick update.

Just spoke with Bob at PowerStrokeShop and said that part # was only for the step, NOT the whole tailgate assy as I was hoping. He said he started to price out the all the pieces needed to build a complete gate assy, and it added up to too much, so he dropped the idea.

Well, at least I won't have to worry about going crazy yet. Still time left.

Just find a truck that has the tailgate step tailgate and repo it that is the cheap way to get one if you don't get caught LOL!!!!

All the parts will run at least 1200.00. Then you have to have it painted. It's going on our truck soon.
