Anyone thats done this. Whats involved to make it fit ?
debateing on whether I should put in a billet grill or the 05 conversion.

you have to get a custon 05 grill tha has been trimmed to fit the early bumper or change over bumpers too, you can find the grill on ebay pretty easily

You could just get the 05 chrome package grille for about 170 then trim the bottom off about 1.5" and stick it in... For the price of the ebay one you could do it yourself fairly easy!

I found ones on ebay that are 300 and there cnc from this company to the size of the 99-04 grill with the 05 layout.

the front end conversion is about 1300, just the grill is ~200, all these are new, BUT!!! you have to trim almost the bottom bar off the grill and lower the bumber to make it fit, Which in my opinion looks terrible, thats why i sent the grill i purchased back, you may think that doing that is fine, and to each there own, but personally the front end conversion looks way better.

Just buy the bumper and grille and do it right, thats what i say, dont do something halfass, tho Powersmoker's looks really good.

Not a fan of the billit grills, I just can never really get into them. I personally like the newer 05 grill just because it looks tough! :fordoval:

Look at mine 06 with a billit grill . My last truck was an 02 gasser with a billit grill.

Well you did get me there Buff, your truck looks good with it.
But your's fills in the gaps, the one I saw on an 01 was a whole grill replacement. I'm not sure who made it but it just looked too cheap for me. I think the billit grills look good when you stick some emblems like the trucker girl or a big Ford badge on it. But once again those are just my tastes.

I dont like the full replacement eather thay look very cheap the inserts look more classy. You have to wach with some grills those ones with fish and stuff cut out of a solid piece of aluminium block a lot of air flow.

now that I think of it, its not much more than a billet grill is it? Thats actually not a bad deal for the fact that it is the right size
