Fill the bed full of fire works........... Light um up.
That way people can enjoy watching your truck smoke.:D

Fair warning dude, better reword what your asking. We don't promote smoking so be prepared to get some comments on that. Only time I smoke is track,n dyno.

well spoken sir!

I get what he is trying to do. I think we all wanted to blow smoke when we changed over from a gas truck. Its fun for a week or two. but then you realize that your gonna blow your heads off without doing the right mods first.
But for me, I did not see smoke untill i did power upgrades like exhaust, intake, and programer.

First, welcome to the forum. Some guys will give you chit about your first post but don't trip on it...

Get a SCT with custom tunes, strait piping will not set any codes. My truck is strait piped and it is fine. It will still be quiet while cruising, and loud as hell when you get on it!!

Sounds good! Not gonna lie, smoke is what got me interested in diesels, just be mature about it and don't go around dusting people for no reason. The EPA is starting to take notice.

Guess thats a little better.............
Do a search on it. This ones been talked to death. Do a search for SCT. Thats what your looking for. Its the most power your going to get without robbing banks to pay for mods. No codes and lights will pop up. An SCT is not a chip or module. It reflashes the computer. Lots of tuners ( people that tune trucks) on this forum. Check out the vendors section. Oh and WELCOME to the NATION...:D

May want to get some head studs.. Your 16, the way 16yr old's drive (the way I did) your gonna want some studs with innovative tunes and a 4in pipe. Because once you show off to whoever again and again that 6L isn't gonna like it without some help. Welcome to the Nation. I remember my first diesel...course it was a 95 for 750 bucks lol

Sounds like a very nice truck to have at 16! I had a beat ass toyota lol, but I got my current truck when I was 19 so I can't complain.

If your going to run a tuner your going to need some gauges too...

If you want to save a little money just strait pipe the stock exhaust. I have an S&B intake and I love it. What were you looking at from TS?

#18 ·
Don't even bother, you will just be wasting your money. Spend the extra coin and get a SCT. I suggest buying one with custom tunes from Innovative Diesel.

I run an AFE stage 2 intake.

SCT is the only way to go. Just remember, you gotta pay to play.Like the others said, wont be too long beating on that thing and your going to be looking at studs.Dont be surprised when something gets toasted and it cost you 5-6 grand to fix. Deff get some gauges though.

The main thing is to assess your bank account or your parents willingness to fund repairs when you blow it up. And lets be fair here...a16 year old with a tuned 6.0 IS gonna hurt something...and it won't be cheap to fix.
Your warranty is gone as soon as you mod it...you need to accept that also.
Intake, exhaust and SCT is gonna run you 12-1500 bucks unless you find some deals which is definitely possibly.
Running that without gauges is a recipe for disaster...add another few hundred for those.
Set back 4 grand minimum for when you lift the heads, because at 16 you WILL show off for your friends and you WILL hurt it.
It's just a matter of time...

The ugly truth!!!!!!!! Alot on here have blown up more 6.0s than most people have owned. Take that for what it is. Before you go throwing power at it,drive it a while, get to know it, then you will know when something doesnt feel right. Educate yourself about the pros and cons of what you want to do to it.
