hard to start in the mornings. Have to keep rpms above 2k so it will stay running. noticed this morning the fuel filter was dry. what could be the issue. truck has 190k on the clock.

Check you crush washers here the fuel feed line goes into the fuel bowl. It could also be that your fuel pump is going out. Thats the issue I had a while back. I have an AirDog2 on it now though.

Ok will check that. Also won't start without starting fluid.

Oh, as far as starting fluid, you might already know this, but make sure you disconnect the glow plug wire (passenger side battery, red wire) so you dont have the glowplugs trying to heat up while you are spraying the starting fluid in it.
The fact that it runs IF you use starting fluid leads me towards a definite fuel leak.
Was thinking, but it could also be the fuel lines. Mine had to be replaced also. It caused a hard start condition all the time. But once I sprayed ether in, it ran, but like crap. Runs perfectly now with the AirDog, but I messed up my injectors running it with air in the fuel. Just be carefull.
