OK, I rummaged through some of the posts on here, didn't find what I was looking for so here goes... my truck I'm building is a 1994 "K" code F350, I did not get motor when I bought it, vin shows it to be an IDI turbo motor. I have a low mileage 7.3l power stroke from a 2003 E450 van, that's going in. I have the complete van, so anything else I may need will be available. I also have a '97 F350 cab that is complete, which was a PS truck, with the complete wiring, not sure about the ECU. question? will the engine wiring and ecu have to stay with the motor from the van? or can I use the '97 harness? will the van ecu plug into the '97 harness and work correctly? the other issue will be that the van has the big auto trans, and I'm installing the ZF 6 spd, as the '94 has already been converted to manual for another motor I changed my mind on, so am I going to have to find a programmer to delete the I/O to trans?? (inputs & outputs) I hear tell the motor since its from a van may have the wrong manifolds on and cause fitments issues with RH side motor mount, is this true?
any help would be fantastic!

there are slight differences with vans and pickups, among them is manifolds, oil cooler, and turbo pedestal.

now with that said, i can't help you because i only read of the differences, never experienced them.
i can say though the 03 will not bolt rite in as is, because 03 used an intercooler if i remember correctly, and the OBS did not.
the guys that do auto to manual sway usually use the auto trans PCM, and just leave the range switch in either park or neutral and wire it up out of the way.

Tough call on a lot of it. The 03 PCM wiring will be completely different than the 97's (and 94's of course since it was an IDI turbo). The underdash harnesses will also be vastly different as well. I would get as much info from the various Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manuals (EVTMs) as you can to figure things out. Cheers!

So I personally would run the the 97 harness and pcm. Just change the uvch’s on the 03 motor and your good to go. The vans did not run an intercooler but it had a 3” plenum so you should have no problem getting everything on the intake side hooked up. There is no way to run the fuel pump off the motor so you need to run the electric fuel pump from the van. Just google obs e fuel. To save some cash just run the van fuel filter housing. I have no idea about the manual conversion

only other problem that I can see then is that I dont have ANY of the front drive components off the OBS motor, so I'm hoping that the van motor complete will work as is, may even separate the engine harness from the van and run it as well, I'm a sparky so wiring is no bother, just time consuming, other wise I will have to hunt down all the drive pieces for the switch. also didnt like that mechanical pump on my old truck either, bad place for IMO! far too much heat in that neck of the woods...

One issue with running the van front hardware is no vacuum pump so either convert to hydroboost or run obs front hardware.

There is quite a bit that runs off of the vacuum pump on the front of the engine. Your HVAC controls along with the brake assist. You don't say if your truck is a 4x4 but if it is then the auto hubs also work off of the vacuum.

Just installing a SuperDuty electric vacuum pump won't work either since it doesn't have enough volume to run everything. So like Mr Sbluke mentioned you would need to go with a hydraboost system for the brakes. Then installing a SD pump to run the rest of the items that I mentioned.
