Really? A friend of mine has a 2006 3500 drw LBZ with a Diablo tuner on it and it pulls like ####... although it runs real nice unloaded, but who needs a nice running unloaded dually? Nobody. It's even worse when he has to hit the pedel and it slings itself into "limp mode".
my lbz with 9000 lbs in tow will outrun dads 99 stroke empty on a 6 percent grade.i know that don't take much but i don't have a big tune on it either, and i never limp it pullin.A friend of mine had a 6.4 450 and a lbz 2500 and the 2500 raped the 450 pullin identical loads on hills.
Can you tell me why so many people run it then? It's not the most powerful tuner but i've seen alot of 100K mile Dmaxes that haven't had any problems running them. Either that or they don't want to spend a grand on the other ones...
That I can't attest too, but it may be. There's an aweful lot of 6.4s running around, and I've never run into one tuned around here. So...all I have to judge by is the internet
A stock 6.4 is a smooth, mild running truck that likes the fuel. A tuned and deleted one can be a 550+rwhp monster. I don't think the GM's have been able to hang with them, especially with stock tranny and other parts. The 6.4 is the bolt on king.
