Noise at around 50 mph

so we are starting to get a noise at around 50 mph, its coming from around the engine or the front right wheel i think

it sounds like a squeaking with vibration and sounds like something is falling off or is coming apart. it last from anywhere in between 1-6 seconds then goes away.

could it be a pulley thats loose or something? or even something in the engine itself? its going in for its first oil change tomorrow at 8400 miles. we are in eastern washington hunting however and dont want the truck in the shop for long with them trying to figure it out.

any ideas?

Re: Noise at around 50 mph

does it matter what rpms your turning at 50? I doubt its tranny related, but if its higher pitched with higher rpms I'd suspect a pully. Does it do it with the A/C on/off?

If it was engine (or anything on the engine) related I would suspect it would be more rpm dependant instead of speed dependant, but I could be wrong.

Re: Noise at around 50 mph

seems to be around 1500-2000 rpm i think. too cold for the a/c here but we can try tomorrow.

i think its a pulley but ill have them check everything tomorrow

hopefully its nothing too serious

It may be to cold for you to turn on the a/c, but if you use your defroster they use the a/c to help dry the air to help defrost faster. So it still could be a/c related.

Keep us posted. It could be the way it shifts that is keeping it above the rpm that your noticing the problem at until it goes into OD. Just a thought. You might play with the manual shift to see if you can make it happen more consistently. Hope its nothing serious

Re: Noise at around 50 mph

well naturally when my dad has the tech riding along it doesnt happen.

i wont jump the gun here but it seems to only happen in e. washington and not here in seattle. we will drive it around at that speed here and try to get it but i dont think it will happen
