Re: Our First H&S Tuned 6.7 Customer!

It's a nice first step, and 6.7L owners should be excited.
I know what my 345 6.4L will do to a set of tires on a launch like that, and a direct comparison wouldn't be pretty, so I'm staying put for now...
I am sure there is more tweaking and power to be done, and congrats to H&S for doing some nice work. I hope that the power being made by that engine will be huge down the road.
I look forward to seeing more before I consider parting with my 6.4L.
Someone tell me the vids are misleading..

Your welcome to head east and go for a ride in my 6.7, but I can tell you it feels better sitting in the front seat. I'm trying to get a 350 tune Spartaned F350 on 37's to run it heads up against my 6.7 to see which is faster. My 2008 F450 is to much heavilier than the 2011 F350 to be fair.

Sean,
As soon as I see a 6.7L get into the 12 second area, (and a color that I like), I'll be ordering a new one. You'll know when I order it because I'll be calling you for some pipes. :)
Until then, it's tough to beat what I've got right now.

Well thats just genius! So not only are you getting a EGR delete, you also end up with a place for your pyro?

You got it! Customer doesn't have to drill or modify anything on his/her truck so it's completely undectable. Leaves no hole drilled and tapped into the manifold.

That's the funny thing about these trucks, if you try to do a boosted launch it defuels the truck. The Red truck was just throttle only, the black truck was getting the two foot treatment. H+S is working on a program fix for this issue, but it's not an H+S problem. The issue is in the Ford program with either the 400/800 reflash and the reflash to fix that reflash. The original flash that came in these trucks were very easy to two foot and boost launch. I've been playing with putting a disconnect in the brake light switch for drag racing.

Re: Our First H&S Tuned 6.7 Customer!

Brake over torque is the issue, it's a Ford drive by wire addition for safety. Most of the 2012+ vehicles will have it, except the Mustang. ;-) None of the factory Ford flashes will allow you launch very hard. My best is a 1.9 60' so far, it'll knock another 4-5 tenths or so off in the 1/4 once we can launch. There's quite a few changes to lose it completely.

Well I tuned the truck Friday with the DPF on just to see how it would do. It was ok, didn't get to put but 5 miles on it to pick up my trailer. On my way to my ranch I was going around another car and then I got a check engine light and reduced power light. When I got to the feed store I pulled over, shut the truck off and tried to clear the codes, but it said there was none. So I went on my way. Light was still on, but the truck had power. Got to my ranch and did a few things and ate. Went out to the barn to go rip the DPF off, words of advice, do NOT attempt this on your own. The DPF must weigh over 150 lbs, it's one heavy S.O.B. It took me about 2 hrs would be my guess to get it off, I took my time looking for all the connections and what not.

So I got it retuned and all buttoned up and started it, it sounds killer. Shut it off and went to bed. Woke up the next morning and drove to my grandmothers ranch with trailer and Jeep in tow. The new power is nice, nothing like my 6.4, but much better than stock.

I've put about 600 miles on it already, but all were with a trailer so I really can not tell you how good it is quite yet. Hopefully I will be done with the trailer on Wednesday and I can get you better results.

I have the H&S too with stock exhaust until I receive mine tomorrow. I threw a code P0087 like 3 times. When I checked the DTC codes with the mini maxx it said none (is this a bug?). So I used my ODBII scanner that I had and it showed P0087 and erased it. It also says power reduced too. I believe we got the same code. I think the hot tune was meant to be used without the DPF even though I selected the on the mini max DPF still present. Hopefully with the exhaust on tomorrow it won't throw that code anymore, other than that feels pretty quick now. Can't wait to put the 5inch exhaust on tomorrow.

Yes, the DTC reading routine is undergoing some changes. It looks like certain codes the truck throws are not reading instantly as they should. Sometimes it takes a few key cycles, and some driving time. We will also get working on a solution for the p0087 code you guys have seen. It sounds like both of you are getting the same code, as it will cause an instant reduced engine power, and will regain full power upon an engine restart. I am assuming both of you were under a high load situation when the code was thrown. We will work these solutions into the next update we do for the 6.7. Hopefully we will have it up on the site this week. Thanks!
