This was easily the worst speech that the office of the president has EVER given in the history of our country. I have never heard more sour grapes and finger pointing from someone who is supposed to be an elegant speaker.
Our fearless leader seems to lack the understanding that those evil rich people he so demonizes create most of the jobs in this country. Oh, and by the way, those people don't HAVE TO WORK, so they don't HAVE to pay any taxes. Our "Progressive" income tax system relies on one earning income to pay taxes. If you are a multi-millionaire, you do NOT have to work. Hell, you don't even have to put your money in interest earning accounts, therefore you don't have to pay any taxes at all.
The "Rich" are anything but stupid. If they are going to be penalized for earning a good salary, they just won't work. They will close their businesses, and the hard working Americans that NEED jobs, won't have them.
We don't have a "Revenue problem" we have a spending addiction that needs to be addressed TODAY. I might have gained a little respect for the imbecile if he had suggested the following:
Workfare - If you are reliant on the government, the government should be reliant on you. No more free checks. Welfare earners have just been promoted to garbage collectors, nature trail maintainers, and public servants. Don't want to work in a public servant capacity, sorry, no more checks.
Social Security - If you are under age 40, we're sorry, there won't be anything there for you. The system is broken and based on a ponzi scheme. (I've said before I'll gladly continue to pay my 6.2% against the first 90K of my income until I retire and earn NOTHING in return, so that those before me who are counting on it can continue to get it). If you are new to the workforce, we aren't taking anything from you or your employer. Save for your own retirement, don't come crying to the government in 45 years because you're eating catfood. Maybe you should have saved some money instead of buying 28" rims for your 1986 Chevy Caprice or put a tuner on your new F250. Personal responsibility.
"Universal Health Care" - Whoops! My bad, I guess America didn't want this after all. We'll instead focus on common sense reforms that include Medicare Tort Law reforms.
College Educations - If you want one, feel free to pay for it. If you can't afford it, go to a trade school or pick up an apprenticeship. This country NEEDS people who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty, we don't need anymore highly educated professional protesters. You aren't entitled to a college education. (I did just fine without one, my wife and I earn a combined income of just under 200K and neither of us went to college, thus neither of us have any college debt)
War's - Okay Iraq, Afghanistan, and Iran, we've invested enough blood and taxpayer cash in this sand pit. We're leaving, and we're going to drill for our own oil so we no longer need your's. Have fun killing yourselves.
Immigration - Since we have the highest unemployment since the great depression, we no longer need illegal immigrants to do jobs American's don't want to do. Especially since we just ended welfare ten minutes ago, there are 4.4 Million people on welfare today, and tomorrow, they all need jobs. I think they'll gladly pick lettuce instead of playing Call of Duty on their PS3's if it means they get to keep eating. (And smoking, drinking, and getting high)
War on Drugs - This is the fourth war we're ending today. Tomorrow come down to city hall and get your permits, we're going to legalize it and tax the living #### out of it. If you don't mind paying a 200% tax on your weed, we don't mind you smoking it. As long as you don't drive a car or otherwise endanger other people while you're doing it.
Global Warming - Guess that little scheme didn't work. We'll repeal the ban on incandescent lightbulbs next week, and the EPA is officially disbanded. We can't afford it.
Public Education - We spend enough money on this, sorry Teachers Unions, you can't get blood from a stone. Schools should be in the business of educating our kids, not growing the next crop of great football and basketball stars. Educating our kids is now the chief priority.
America's tax code - If we want a fair economy, we need to tax fairly. Let's get rid of the progressive tax code and go with something intelligent such as a 10% national sales tax. It can never go up, and we can't spend more than we take in. A balance budget amendment is required.
Of course, he's a socialist, so he'd rather take from the rich and give to the poor because that's his idea of "fair".
I'm not rich because of the money I earn, I'm rich from the satisfaction that I provide for my family, earn a good salary based on years of hard work and sacrifice. Welfare and our tax code rob everyday American's of that Rich feeling.
