Obama and Libya

I can't seam to find it, but does anyone know what the congressional bill number was for us to strike against Libya as an act of war?

Re: Obama and Libya

It wasn't a U.S. act of war. It was carried out by the United Nations.

The president has authorization under existing treaties and agreements with the UN. In addition, this isn't the first time it's happened.

I don't know, what would 100 tomahawk missiles hitting buildings, air fields, military positions be called? Target Practice?

I know this, what was the reaction with the non-bias news media the last time this happend? Looks like another free pass for Obama from the media though.

Re: Obama and Libya

I guess he had to lob a few Patriot Missiles onto an Islamic country so Conservatives would quit claiming Obama is a closet Muslim sent here to destroy Christianity.

Do you think it will change the wackos/ conspiracy theorists/ birthers minds? Not bloody likely!

I'm officially...Stroke-less.

So do you think it was OK for him to lob those missles without Congressional approval? Why?

The President does not need Congressional approval to attack. The President can order an attack on his own, it takes an act of Congress to declare War.

In my opinion, yes, he was justified. What Khadafi did was a flagrant violation of basic human rights. In our history, we have set a precedence for protecting human rights. To not do it would have been spitting in the face of a long history of who we are.

Not only that, but the UN called for the action. We are a huge part of that organization, we need to step up and do our part.

If we do not stand by our treaties that are signed documents, we are breaking a contract. The US stopped doing that when they pretty much defeated the American Indian.

Re: Obama and Libya

I think the way he handled it was in my opinion
Far better than how Bush delt with Iraq, this time Obama took the time to request the aid of Muslim nations which showed that he wanted to it too be a joint effort

OH and by the way, there was never a signed peace treaty between certain western powers(France, Britain, America, Canada) with Libya so in other words:
We are at war with Libya, and have been for sometime

Re: Obama and Libya

I think the last declared war by the United States was on Japan and Germany in WWII. Korea, Vietnam, First Gulf War, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq #2, and Libya (and all the others) are just "conflicts."
