No need to question it, as it's not a chain e-mail you received........ and are trying to pass off as the truth.

Never have so many politicians, screwed so many Americans...just to make one black person lose his job.

This is a very iffy topic. One week fleetowner says things are looking bleek, and next things are looking up. I have several customers who are OTR's as well and they say things are slow right now. You really have to diversify yourself if you wanna survive is what I am being told.

Re: Some Good truckin news:

One thing fleetowner forgets to mention.

Of course truck sales are goin up. Those that held off because of the DPF mandate in 07 are replacing now because of 2 things. One they probably dont have a choice anymore, and two the mileage improved with the introduction of SCR

Another thing they forgot rising fuel prices could kill this "recovery in a heartbeat

And the responses beggars the question if you read the article all the way through..

“They made more money without raising rates too much,” Perry said. “But now with most of the excess capacity taken out, they will have to buy more trucks and hire more drivers if they want to handle more freight.”

Although freight rates have risen more slowly than in past recoveries, they should sustain higher levels for a longer time as “the freight environment will be dominated by capacity shortages and pricing will be strong” through 2013, he said.

Along with strong rates, though, Perry predicted that driver pay will increase “by double digits by the second quarter [of this year] and maintain double digit growth for at least another year.”

Re: Some Good truckin news:

We are so busy at work that I really don't have enough hours in the day and it's not just me.

A guy flew in from CA yesterday and bought a used truck.
A guy drove up from S. TX today and paid cash for a used truck. Dropped the truck off w/ the shop for at least $10K worth of fenders and wetkit and flat said he didn't care what the price was. Of course we will treat him fairly but what a change.
I'm dropping off a new truck tomorrow w/ a customer, he is paying for one I dropped off last week and this one cash, and he is signing papers to order 6 more. I told him the truth, that the factory has raised prices from just last month because they have so many orders. He didn't even blink and is paying it.

I have another 15 or so on order for various guys. It's only mid February guys.

Compare that to the fact that our entire dealership only sold like 9 trucks in '08.

Certain segments are still very weak, homebuilding in particular. But as a whole trucking is back in a HUGE way.

We have 2 trailer sales guys as well and it's nuts over there. They usually sell 1 or 2 at a time. Well one guy has a 90 trailer order and the trailer factory is saying they can't even build them until late '12 at the earliest because order intake is so high.

I'm officially...Stroke-less.
